Bridging the Gap Program

What is it? How does it work? If you are a newcomer who is leaving an institution, either a correctional facilities or treatment facilities, the Bridging the Gap program can have a temporary sponsor available in their home town. This temporary sponsor introduces the newcomer to life in recovery outside of institutes.

I am a member of A.A. How can I help? If you are willing to be a temporary sponsor, give your name, telephone number, and sobriety date to your local Bridging the Gap contact person, or you can sign up on line here . Often these contacts are the local district Corrections Chair or the Treatment Facilities Chair. It is suggested you have at least one year of sobriety.

I am new to the fellowship. What do I do? Contact your local Bridging the Gap contact person via e-mail from this site. Tell him or her your name, a phone number where you can be reached, and the town you will be living in. The contact person will arrange to have a temporary sponsor call you. Usually men sponsor men and women sponsor women.
