UTAH AREA GENERAL SERVICE COMMITTEE Assembly/Agenda Report September 2006
Committees for upcoming events continue to meet and plan for our meetings across the state. This weekend we meet in Kanab for the election assembly. The District 7 committee has done an excellent job of getting ready for our visit. We have talked several times by telephone and they are excited to host us. The Fall Workshop hosted by District 10 has been meeting for several months and their committee is looking forward to presenting their take on our Workshop topics and Theme for this year. District 2 committee of veterans has been "scrambling" for a facility to host us in this coming December. They have a list of tentative facilities to go over in Kanab. They will also be hosting the Pre-Conference next March. Next years first meeting will be in District 8. Nadine has picked up the ball and is working hard to prepare for our visit. She has some great ideas for locations. She said she is having a very hard time getting people to serve on their host committee. This is becoming an issue in some of our outlying Districts. We have met with the District 11 committee for next years Post-Conference Assembly. They have a very well developed committee and are well into the planning stages for this event. More information is available on the Area Website @ utahaa.org. Flyers and programs are posted there as they become available. It was brought to my attention that our events are not being listed in the 459 and Grapevine. We will make a stronger effort to continue to encourage host committees to use these resources to advertise our Area events. There is a wealth of shared experience contained in the information packets that the Area produces and distributes for hosting committees. Sometimes because of the volume of this information details are overlooked. And, it is difficult to do the job without enough AA volunteers to serve on host committees. Yours in AA Love & Service, Monte S.
